Mission & Vision

Faith in Action is an independent nonprofit organization founded in 2005 to serve the greater Bloomington Normal area. At the time, local parish nurses saw a need to provide transportation for older adults in their congregation to medical appointments. This task was too monumental for each individual parish to accomplish, but they realized if they worked together, their efforts could provide rides to older adults across faith organizations and the entire community.

Today, Faith in Action utilizes over 475 volunteers to provide transportation for over 570 care receivers. Our services have expanded to include transportation for grocery shopping, a friendly visiting program, and occasional light home maintenance. As an interfaith organization, we welcome people of all faith backgrounds and utilize congregational liaisons to work with partner congregations.
