Title: Volunteer & Community Liaison
Location: 600 E. Willow Street, Suite 201, Normal, IL 61761
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: 30 hours per week
Job Summary
The Volunteer and Community Liaison will strengthen Faith in Action’s presence in the community by cultivating relationships with volunteers, potential volunteers, partners, and sponsors. This role increases awareness of volunteer opportunities, fundraising initiatives, and sponsorship programs that support the organization’s mission. The coordinator represents Faith in Action at community meetings and public events, delivers presentations, supports volunteer training efforts, and promotes the organization through ongoing networking and outreach activities.
Key Responsibilities
Community Representation and Outreach
- Represent Faith in Action at networking events and meetings, such as McLean County Chamber of Commerce, Senior Care Network, and other community organizations.
- Deliver presentations and participate in community marketing events to increase awareness of Faith in Action’s services, volunteer opportunities, and efforts to generate income.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with sponsors, community partners, and other key stakeholders as directed by the Executive Director and Development Manager.
Fundraising & Events
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board to develop and maintain an annual fundraising calendar that supports a year-round diversified fundraising strategy.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute major fundraising events, including the “Take Action” luncheon, mum sale, restaurant fundraisers, Annual Appeal, and Mardi Gras BINGO.
- Assist the Executive Director in planning and implementing special donor events and fundraising campaigns.
- Create and maintain work instructions for all events and special projects to ensure consistency and quality.
Volunteer Engagement and Support
- Partner with the Volunteer Manager to organize, coordinate, and support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of volunteers to meet organizational needs.
- Assist with processing volunteer applications, including background checks.
- Support the implementation of volunteer appreciation activities, including the annual volunteer appreciation dinner.
- Assist in conducting volunteer surveys and focus groups to gather feedback and strengthen volunteer engagement.
- Maintain strong, positive working relationships with volunteers and provide support as needed.
Organizational Support
- Attend Faith in Action-sponsored events as required.
- Provide office coverage and support to other staff members as needed.
- Perform additional duties assigned to support the mission and operations of Faith in Action.

- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally in a variety of settings using a variety of tools and formats.

- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events and organizational activities.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and contribute to a team-oriented workplace
Education and Experience
- College degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
