Family and Friends – Celebrating 15 years

Dear Family and Friends,

Please join me in celebrating Faith in Action’s 15 years of serving seniors in Bloomington-Normal and its surrounding areas.  As a Faith in Action Board Member, I would like to share what a difference this organization has made in the lives of over 500 senior neighbors in need.  Whether it is providing transportation to a doctor, dentist or life-saving dialysis treatment, Faith in Action volunteers have provided not only rides but companionship and friendship.  Additional volunteers are driving care receivers to get their groceries while others spend time visiting seniors at home or via a phone call.  Furthermore, volunteers work in the office, do light yard work or home repairs and support FIA committees.  Faith in Action could not operate without the efforts of its hundreds of volunteers.

During the pandemic, Faith in Action shifted its focus to provide support in other ways.  We recruited individuals and groups to sew face masks for care receivers.  We shifted to doing grocery shopping for care receivers and delivering the food as well as delivering care bags of groceries from a local food bank.  When medical appointments resumed, we created guidelines to keep both passengers and volunteers safe.  When vaccines became available, we helped coordinate a vaccine clinic by recruiting recipients and organizing rides.

As you can imagine the pandemic disrupted some fundraising operations and we continue to need support.  How can you help?
