Stacey B. January 2021 Volunteer Spotlight

After retiring in Sept ’19, I wanted to do something to help seniors.  Working at the transportation desk I see all the ways this helper community holds up McLean County seniors and the wonderful giving spirit of everyone involved!

The highlight of my day is walking on the Constitution Trail or another park and watching for wildlife.  We’ve spotted minks, owls, groundhogs and fox!  I’m my best self out in nature – energized and engaged.  Indoors, I try to keep busy researching family history and, recently, with “felting” woolen crochet projects.

Both my husband and I grew up in other parts of the country, but have been here 25 years – hands down the longest I’ve ever lived in one place.  With our Son and his Fiancé in Chicago, we visit as often as possible.  But when we can’t see them, I remind myself to treasure today and to hope for a sunnier tomorrow.
