Tim Arnold – June 2019 Volunteer

When did you become a volunteer for FIA, and what volunteer positions have you chosen to do?
I have been volunteering with Faith In Action for a little over two years. I am a driver and I also do a home visit.

What brought you to FIA?
My wife Lynda is also a volunteer. I saw how much she enjoys it so I thought It might be something I might like to do.

Had you been looking for an opportunity to volunteer?
I was looking for some other volunteer work to do. One of the nice things about Faith In Action is you can easily work around any schedule you might have.

Any “Words of Wisdom” for us?
If anyone is looking to do volunteer work, with that feeling of total satisfaction of helping someone, Faith In Action is a great starting point.

Have you lived in the area long? Other places you have lived?
I have lived in the BN area pretty much all my life. I was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and moved to Bloomington when I was six months old.

Jobs/ Careers?
I worked for Firestone for twenty years after I was discharged from the Army. I then went to work for Illinois State University for twenty three years retiring in 2011.

Hobbies/ Past times/ Passions?
Since Lynda is retired now, we are doing more traveling now and visiting family. We have four children, fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  My hobbies include reading, gardening and sports. I am a big fan of the Cubs and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
